There was an issue with the mac launcher not downloading the minecraft files.. It got fixed in beta version 3.1 though

I think everybody just sees it as a waste of time to make something that's not gonna be there long (this is the reason I'm not playing anyway), I'm looking forward to the custom build server!

What error message do you get? The Obvious but questionable: Are you using the tekkit client? Are you using the same ip? (mc.gamingstylez.com)

Confirmed! I've done this and it works! I get more FPS because I installed the multi-core version of Optifine! Sweet!

and for those diehards, You might be able to install the mods manually and connect to the tekkit server so as you can have your own version of Optifine or whatever! xD

The tekkit server IS a modified version of bukkit so all bukkit plugins should work with it

I think tekkit is much easier and if you go custom you'll miss some recently updated mods such as Wireless Redstone and stuff! don't miss any mods out of tekkit! lol (except for maybe EE)

Go to http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/ and download the tekkit client, log into minecraft with the technic launcher (selecting tekkit from the drop down) .. Put in the server IP and you're good to go!
