I've been watching the youtube series for a loooong time but have just signed here.
 
I am from Bulgaria and at the age of 20-somethinig (cannot calculate right now, too early in the morning). And that is all about me. LOL
 
GS, I want to thank you, because you are the reason I made if from Minecraft + Buildcraft mod to Minecraft + I-cannot-count-them mods!

Yeah I never even really considered Buildcraft. The RedNet things in MFR seem pretty powerful anyway... just waiting for 1.6.2.. lol

Haven't messed with Project Red, but Forge microblocks are the way to go for those. Logic gates are pretty much a thing of the past with the inclusion of the gates in Buildcraft. They attach right to the pipes and also have redstone wire you can attach as well.

Has anyone played around with Project: Red? Looks to be a complete RP2 replacement. It doesn't look as nicely done as RP2 but looks like it might be open source which means it should get maintained well.
 
EDIT: There's also a logic replacement by Immibis here... my kidney's are telling me that Immibis is a more active and reliable dev.
 
EDIT 2: Ehhh Immibis version seems to be real early for 1.6 and requires his microblocks mod. I'd prefer to use ChickenBones' microblocks (Forge Multipart).

Yeah I know what you're saying about using FTB as a base but it's not ready yet for 1.6.2 (even though you said it's around the corner) and I hate relying on yet another third party to maintain the mods I'm using. I already have everything from season 2 that I'm going to use (that has a 1.6 version available) installed and working in my game. I would have been done hours ago but keeping the forum post updated is more work than installing the mods! haha
 
Knock on wood I haven't had one ID conflict yet so either mod authors are really working together to not overlap or Forge has gotten smarter in assigning block IDs.
 
I've also dropped EBXL for Biomes O' Plenty! I've also dropped Wee Flowers since BOP adds enough flora to make it kind of redundant. I've also dropped a couple smaller IC2 add-ons that I didn't really need like Transformers and ChargePads... they were cool but I don't NEED them and it's just something else I have to worry about updating.
 
Also going full-steam-ahead with the experimental 2.0 of IC2 since that's what they appear to be updating now (the previous 118 hasn't been touched in 2 months or so).

Ahh I think I remember something like that in some newer versions in LPs... come to think of it I know Forestry now has something like that. I'll have to compare them and see if it's worth dropping XACT - XACT is REALLY well done so I'd hate to drop it but it's always nice removing extra mods so it's one less mod you have to wait to update.

Yeah that and Minefactory Reloaded are two that I'm waiting on. I'm hoping to get all the other mods working and by the time that's done then HOPEFULLY the rest of the mods will be updated. Unfortunately it's hard to work around mods that add world-gen without having to regen terrain later.

If you're wondering where I am, I'm still around! I have a ton of videos I want to do but it's been a pain lately to get them done. I was down for about 2 to 3 months due to my wisdom teeth - they were impacted and starting to decay since you can't brush them when they're 95% under your gums so daily toothaches made life miserable. I got them hauled out at the end of June and took a couple weeks to heal over.
 
So, after my teeth were healed I found myself in the middle of summer and unable to record videos since I have no tolerance for heat and my air conditioner is too loud! Basically, right now I'm in a holding pattern before I can do any more videos but it's starting to cool off a bit so hopefully I'll get back on track soon!

Looks like I have a lot of research to do for Industrialized season 2.5... lol
 
I try not to watch too many industrial-themed Minecraft let's plays since it tends to subconsciously influence what I do in my own and I end up unintentionally copying people's projects. That also means I tend to fall out of the loop a bit.

Applied Energistics is an awesome replacement to Logistic Pipes, and also all the new Gates nearly make RedPower obsolete anyway. I do believe the new DW20 pack on FTB has both Applied Energistics and Logistic Pipes as well. I watched Episode 1 of Direwolfs Forgecraft 2 today. They are already testing out stuff for 1.6.2 and I gotta say that it's looking really interesting so far. Bibliocraft, Biomes-O-Plenty, Morph, etc. , all great additions I think. My big favorites have to be Tinkers Construct, Bibliocraft, the new and improved Mystcraft, and of course Forestry with all the add-ons for it. Be sure to check out FTB again, it's really improving.
 
 
I've also been checking out this guy on YouTube. He showcases the new Unleashed/Unhinged pack really well. I think it says Unleashed but is indeed Unhinged (GregTech). Also be sure to keep up with Direwolf for the up-to-date stuff for his pack.

Awesome man, thanks for the update! I'll look into those other mods you mentioned as it would be nice to have a replacement for RedPower. As much as I love RP it's not of any use if it's not updated. I'll take another look into FTB but there's so many other mods that I like that weren't in it last time I checked.

I sort of miss it but I haven't played it since I did my last video. Mostly because once again I'm stuck between versions where I want to do some stuff that newer mods have (mostly forestry stuff) but I'm stuck waiting for mods like RedPower to get updated in my pack before I can move on.
 
As to the original post, it sounds interesting but I don't have the time nor money to put into hosting another server that will only be used by a couple of people.

Yeah I saw that drama unfold on Twitter... it was glorious! No idea what it was really about but drama is drama! hahaha

I've been having troubles getting onto your server. Been almost two weeks or so i think. Keeps timing me out. I think i might be having minecraft withdrawals.

I've restructured the forum a bit to simplify it. I removed the game sections from under GamingStylez and just moved them to the Video Game section. I originally wanted to separate YouTube-specific conversation from general game conversation but I think it makes more sense to just keep them together. So anything that was in the GamingStylez section was removed and all posts moved to the appropriate forum under Video Games (so update your links!).
 
I've also added a section for SimCity since that's coming out next week.

I might be scaling back a lot on this series as it's just not catching on. There's wayyyyy too many Minecraft series on YouTube so to get any sort of viewership is extremely hard. I'm not stopping this series I'm just refocusing a bit on some other fresh things (like SimCity).
 
I know I have some die-hards that always watch the series every Tuesday and Thursday so it sucks that I'll have to cut back but I thank you guys for your support!
 
Again, I want to stress that I'm not stopping the series, I'm just relaxing my commitment to the Tuesday/Thursday schedule. As I mentioned in my latest video, Minecraft is a hard game to do an entertaining LP for. It takes a lot of prep (like mining) that people don't want to see in a video in order to do the interesting stuff on camera. It's also hard to keep the mods updated every couple weeks which can take 2 - 3 hours depending on how much has changed.
