There was an issue with the mac launcher not downloading the minecraft files.. It got fixed in beta version 3.1 though

We're getting to the point where most mods are updated to 1.3 (except RedPower 2) and I'm wanting to know what changes you'd like to see to how the server works. Are there any features of the previous server (before Tekkit) you'd like to see removed? Are there features on the server that you felt were missing?
 
I'm looking for features that will add to the fun of the server. I still want to make the server as legit as possible (while remaining fun) but things like teleporting were disabled - should teleporting be enabled on the new server with a cost associated with it? Stuff like that.
 
I want to get other people's opinions on this as I prefer playing single player so my ideas may play like crap on SMP.
 
PS: As mentioned before, we're going to be going for a tech-based server but without using Tekkit... so sort of a custom Tekkit. A private mod pack for the server will be available for download.

Everyone should start abandoning their claims now and selling their items in preparation for Tekkit! We'll probably switch to Tekkit before 1.3 comes out as it's going to be a long time and it seems everyone has lost interest in the server.

Tekkit would by far be easier for everyone as a whole to work with, although having Forestry back in that mod pack would be the bees-knees.

Yeah restricting reactors would really suck but I can see how it could be used to grief. The amount of time and resources required to build a reactor I would imagine is beyond the attention span of your average griefer.

I'm game but I also have very little time invested in my personal build (other than the hours we spend making spawn lol). Also, for anyone that wants to keep their work I can probably make the map available for download if that factors in anyone's decision.

Unplug your router for about 10 seconds and then plug it back in. Then try to connect to it. If you still can't connect then open a command prompt (Start -> Run... -> cmd [or find command prompt in start menu]) and type "ipconfig /all". Somewhere in the sea of text you'll see "Default Gateway" which is your router's IP address. Type this into the address bar of your web browser to get to the admin page. If it still don't work try a different browser or computer. Once you get in there follow the instructions on the port forward website for your router.

FYI, Usually you only need to port forward if you're hosting something, You're router should allow outgoing traffic to return information!

It doesn't work or you don't know the password? I've never seen a router admin page not work... lol

FYI If you're using hamachi you don't need to port forward, That's one of it's popular uses... It uses a Virtual Network and uses ports that are unblocked by 90% of routers and configure each other through logmein's servers. You shouldn't need to port forward if you're using Hamachi. But if you're trying to connect to an Online mode server using it.. You're not gonna get very far.

The Silent Hill series is also quite good. Played the first one hours on end on the old PS1. Only condition is you must use surround sound with the lights turned off.

I've been thinking about putting up a GamingStylez SMP server for a looong time now and was wondering how much interest there is in this. I'd like to get a list of people that would want to play on it frequently and also if there are any serious builders that would want to work on the community areas.
 
Also I'd want to know if any of you have a preference as to what Bukkit plugins are installed on the server.
 
A couple months ago I had a super secret project where I actually had a server just about ready to deploy that had a bunch of industrial mods on it along with a bunch of Bukkit mods but I realized I didn't have the time to dedicate to it so I scrapped it just before releasing it.
 
Here, let me make a list of questions and you guys can answer them below:
Which Bukkit mods would you like to see on the server? Towny, jail, etc
Would you want it to be "Industrialized" (IC2, Buildcraft, etc) or vanilla+bukkit? Keep in mind an industrial server is a lot of work to maintain and worlds could get lost/corrupted frequently.
Would you want a voice chat server to accompany it for communication?
Whitelisted or pubic? Or hybrid - public access but explicit build rights need to be granted (still open to creative griefing)
Would you want to be a builder (building spawn areas, etc)? Do you have any examples of your work (attach images in your reply in this thread)?

There's probably a lot of other questions I should be asking so make sure to post any suggestions to this thread. If I decide to create a server (if there's enough desire for it) I would likely use BuyCraft to fund it. Of course you don't have to buy anything to use the server but it would allow you to save time by buying certain items. I would probably also put up a donation box for the server as well but that remains to be seen!
 
I'm also going to need some moderators and/or server admins to help run the server when I'm not around but probably myself and Gizmo will run it in the meantime until we find some people to help out. If you'd like to help out then let me know in this thread that you're interested and just make sure you participate on the forums and show some maturity and you'll be considered (I can't give random people I don't know admin access that's why participation is key)!

Me too man me too, Maybe if Stylez makes up a server we could make one together I love redstone in my bases too for piston doors and such.
